Madrid to face Numancia with ‘B’ team

Ramos, Ronaldo, Modric, Bale and Benzema among the notable absentees from team to face Sorians

Real Madrid have confirmed their 19-strong squad for the Copa del Rey Round of 16 return game against Numancia tonight. Several of their habitual first-choice players have not been called up for a game in which the Blancos start with a three-goal advantage from the first leg. In fact, of Zinedine Zidane’s usual starting XI, only Carvajal, Kroos, Casemiro and Isco have actually been named. Several academy products have been called up, outstanding among them is Óscar.

Madrid won last week’s first leg in Soria by a clear 0-3 scoreline, and thus consider that they are practically through to the quarter-finals already.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Navas, Casilla and Moha.

Defenders: Carvajal, Vallejo, Nacho, Theo, Achraf and Tejero.

Midfielders: Kroos, Casemiro, M. Llorente, Asensio, Isco, Kovacic, D. Ceballos and Óscar.

Forwards: L. Vázquez and B. Mayoral.
