Napoli take lead in race to get Deulofeu

RAI say Light Blues to pay €20 million for Barça forward, whom Inter wanted on loan

Gerard Deulofeu is set to return to Italy, but not to Milan, as was expected. The Blaugrana academy product, who was already looking to leave Barcelona, had received an offer from Inter to go there on loan, but the conditions did not convince the Catalan club.

Now, as the Italian radio and television network RAI reports, it will be Napoli who will most likely get the Spanish international’s signature. They are prepared to pay €20 million (18 plus a further 2 in add-ons) for Deulofeu, which means Barcelona will not only recuperate the money they invested to bring him back from Everton (€12 million) but they will also make a profit.

The signing of Coutinho and Dembélé’s recovery from injury leave Deulofeu in a totally secondary role, which has led him to look for a way out and an alternative club where he will hopefully get playing time and exposure to keep him on Julen Lopetegui’s radar with the World Cup approaching. Napoli could be the right choice for him.
