Odriozola and Rodrigo, in the starting line-up to face Albania

Spain are looking to leave their qualification for the Russia World Cup even more secure in tonight’s game against Albania, and Julen Lopetegui has not hesitated to put two new faces in the starting line-up.

The first is that of the youngster Álvaro Odriozola in the right-back position. With Carvajal out because of a heart problem, the coach is playing the Real Sociedad man, recently promoted from the U-21 squad, despite having the more experienced Azpilicueta available in the squad.

The other is the Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno, who has played for Spain before, but who has not been called up these last three years, and is a debutant for Lopetegui. He will play in the centre-forward role, meaning the coach has ruled out the idea of playing with a ‘false 9’, a position that would have been occupied by Marco Asensio.

Spain’s starting line-up: De Gea; Odriozola, Piqué, Ramos, Alba; Saúl, Koke, Thiago; Silva, Isco and Rodrigo.

Albania’s starting line-up: Berisha; Hysaj, Veseli, Memushaj, Llullaku; Balliu, Xhaka, Memolla, Grezda; Ajeti y Kaçe.
