Piqué shushes Cornellà-El Prat

Centre-back’s gesture after scoring the equaliser winds up Blanquiazul faithful and players

Gerard Piqué, already in the eye of the storm in the days before this afternoon’s match because of the comments he made after the two-legged Catalan derby in the Copa del Rey, scored the Blaugranas‘ equaliser late on in the game at Cornellà-El Prat, with more than 80 minutes gone on the clock. The centre-back got a little payback, as Espanyol had reported him to the Anti-violence Committee, and he raised his finger to his lips and shushed the crowd.

From then on, the game became a little more heated, to the point when Gerard Moreno (who had scored Espanyol’s opening goal) and Piqué himself got into a tangle that required the intervention of the referee.
