Real Madrid to kick off in FIFA Club World Cup on December 13th

FIFA have announced the calendar for the 2017 Club World Cup, even though the fact that the champions of South America, Asia and Africa are yet to be defined means the real schedule is something of a mystery still.

The Blancos will have their first fixture on Wednesday December 13th -just after playing Sevilla- at 18:00 hours in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium, and will face either the champions of Asia or the winner of the game between Auckland City, from New Zealand, and Al Jazira, the hosts.

At the moment, the Asian Champions League is at the semi-final stage. One of the ties involves Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian side Persepolis, with the Saudis leading 4-0 after the first leg. The other is between Shanghai SIPG, from China, and the Japanese side, Urawa. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.

On the other side of the draw from Real Madrid will be the winner of the Copa Libertadores -any one of River Plate, Lanús, Barcelona SC or Gremio-, against either Pachuca or the winners of the African Champions League -any one of USM Alger, WAC Casablanca, Étoile du Sahel or Al Ahly.
